Play with Paint!!

Sometimes I just need to immerse myself in color. Once I break out the paint, I play with it until it's out of my system. If you know me, you know that I will paint anything and everything. The defiant rebel in me prefers nontraditional surfaces... like my furniture. I see doors and windows as a boring blank canvass and once my brain sees some specific pattern in that blank space, that image will nag at me until I fix it.

I did treat myself to some actual canvasses but found all the possibilities rather overwhelming and intimidating and I put them away. One day I remembered that they existed and I decided it was silly to save them for a special occasion. I got over my insecurities and the permanence of paint by telling myself that if I hated what I painted, I could just black it out and start over. That freed my mind up enough to play with color like a big silly kid.

Common themes are Sunflowers, Lotus, Henna Art, Mandalas and Moons. I've loved those things and those images for as long as I can remember. I also find myself mesmerized by color shifting paints as well as metallic paints and I'm always a sucker for black and white patterns and designs.
